Click for a larger imageIt’s official. ‘The Shambles’ is the most picturesque street in the UK. Our home in the centre of York has won the first ever google street view award. Hurray!
We jumped at the chance to have our very first high street xing bar on The Shambles in June 2009. It wasn’t an easy decision to make – getting a high street location during a recession. But we loved the street so much, we couldn’t say no.
It’s rare to find a street with so much character in a UK city centre. For anyone that hasn’t been before, it’s famed for the houses leaning over so they almost touch above the cobbles. And it’s got spooky secrets. We recommend going on one of the really popular ghost walks that start at The Shambles every evening.
